Middle School Program
Overview

The mission of Kids Learning Center is to provide a challenging curriculum that is technologically infused, where academic excellence, character development and individual growth are nurtured through differentiated support in a safe and motivating environment that prepares students to become lifelong learners and active members of their community. Our program includes enrichment opportunities that expose the students to art, technology, physical education, Spanish (FLVS), Service Learning and Project Based Learning.

Academics

Our students benefit from small classroom sizes, which allows teachers to differentiate learning. We also provide intervention programs that give one-to-one attention through small groups that enhance and engage the students with the most up-to-date curriculums and programs. We utilize the Pearson Savvas curriculum for Reading, Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies. The Social Studies focuses on World History, Civics, and American History. The Houghton Mifflin curriculum focuses on mathematics, Algebra 1 is offered for advanced 8th grade students. The curriculums are built on a strong research base and authored by the nation's top experts and educators. It is centered on interactive and visual learning and differentiated instruction to address the specific needs of all student populations. It contains resources for students who are on level, struggling or below grade level. It also reaches the gifted and talented and those with learning disabilities. Core curriculum material is given as consumable print as well as offered online for reinforcement at home. KLC provides additional supplemental academic resources such as IXL, Prodigy, and other literature resources. As these skills develop, students are progressively introduced to the higher order thinking that is necessary for a successful future. Students enroll in the FLVS Spanish courses which will allow them to obtain High School credits. In addition, in the 8th grade, if the students are completed with the Spanish courses, they are able to choose an elective course that will also be applied as a High School credit. Students who are able to be challenged further can take up to two High School credit courses per school year.

Students are all given Microsoft office accounts to access all Microsoft applications such as word, excel, power point, teams, and email. In addition, teachers assist students in developing an appreciation of their culture as well as instruction in Music, Spanish, Visual Arts, Physical Education, Bible, Computers, Project Based Learning, Character Education, and Service Learning to round out the student's educational experience.

KLC is structured to challenge and stimulate students while meeting the standards developed by the Florida Department of Education. We offer a creative learning environment taught by enthusiastic and qualified teachers who bring their classrooms to life. We believe that a challenging curriculum paired with a caring learning environment enables our students to succeed.
